Almost to the end of the school year, I received a custom order for two twin blankets. They were both going to be used in the same log cabin, so they had to be made from the same fabric. I had only 3 weeks to make them. I wasn’t sure I could do it until the last day, and it was a challenge for me. I sewed for 3-4 hours every day after my day job and parenting duties. When I was done, I had a couple hours to take some photos, and both blankets were going to Montana.

My client loved the Desert Potted Blanket I made for the magazine, so I decided to make one like it, but using only green, gray, beige, and brown.

When I was thinking about the next design for my second quilt, I really wanted to go with a pine tree theme with a log cabin, mountains, or even a bear on it, but due to the luck of the time, I refused all the complicated designs and ended up going with a simple one with pine trees.

I really liked the result and my client was pleased when she received both. They were perfect for the log cabin, but I will never take on custom orders again that need to be sewn up in a short amount of time. It’s very exhausting, believe me.
